ABOUT US
Founded in 2008, SOS CANYA initially emerged in response to the critical needs of dogs at the inadequately managed Zoo Sanitario municipal dog pound. Motivated by a community committed to change, we have devoted ourselves to this cause.
Over the past 16 years, thanks to the unwavering support of our volunteers, we have made remarkable progress in improving both the shelter and the lives of numerous dogs. Our commitment to their welfare remains steadfast as we continue our efforts to provide a secure and loving environment for every animal we serve.

Over the years, we have saved and rehomed more than 7,000 dogs.

On any given day, we have an average of 350 dogs at our shelter.

WHAT WE DO
Rescue
We work tirelessly to rescue dogs from various situations, whether they are abandoned, neglected, or in distress. Our dedicated team is committed to being their voice and providing immediate care.
Rehabilitate
Our shelter rehabilitates dogs with personalised care, emphasising physical health, mental wellness, and behavior. Through veterinary support, nutritious diets, and a loving environment, we ready them for permanent homes.
Rehome
Finding loving, responsible, and suitable forever homes for our furry friends is at the heart of what we do. Through careful matchmaking and a thorough adoption process, considering their personalities and needs, we strive to ensure that each dog finds the perfect family.
Educate
Our goal is to educate on joyful, responsible dog ownership to prevent abandonment and mistreatment. We offer resources on care, training, and the benefits of spaying/neutering, collaborating with schools and organisations.
