EVERY WINTER WE LIVE IN FEAR FOR OUR DOGS
Foundation CANYA SOS is situated within the confines of the Municipal pound, located in a high flood-risk area in the Palmones river valley. The onset of rain poses an immediate threat to all the dogs in our shelter. Volunteers risk their own lives each year as the rains become increasingly extreme, rushing to evacuate the dogs from the Shelter. This is a heartbreaking situation that should not and cannot continue. We have tragically lost dogs due to flooding. Each winter brings immense stress and fear for everyone involved.
WE HAVE A PLAN
We are at a pivotal moment in our mission to establish a purpose-built sanctuary for dogs, having secured 3 hectares in Los Barrios with 250,000 Euros raised through generous donations. Yet, our journey requires further support. To protect our dogs from the impending threat of floods next winter, we face the challenge of raising an additional 900,000 Euros in 2025.
WE'VE ALREADY COME A LONG WAY
January 2023: We completed the purchase
September 2024: We obtained all the building permits
November 2024: We started construction of vital infrastructure and the first 20 enclosures
