Spike: A Gentle Soul in Need of a Loving Home
Spike arrived at Los Barrios pound in April 2021 and was about 4,5 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Pitbull Terrier cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.
Spike is a calm and gentle boy who adores people and cuddles. He seems so sad in his cage; his eyes reflect a deep sorrow, as if he has experienced some difficult times. He had a good friend, but she has since been adopted, leaving Spike even more lonely.
Living in a cage has taken a toll on poor Spike. He is stressed and lonely.
Spike loves going for walks and is very good on the lead. He enjoys stopping for little breaks to have some treats and cuddles, making every moment outside his cage precious, as he does not go out often, due to the lack of volunteers.
In April 2022, two of our regular volunteers took him out to the local town to give him a break from the chaotic pound life. Spike was so excited by everything in the town; it was like he didn't know where to begin, wanting to take it all in at once. Despite the strong wind that day, which made all of us a bit unsettled, Spike was not bothered by traffic, people, or children passing by. He showed interest in other dogs, giving a little happy whine before continuing his walk.
Spike happily jumped into the car both ways, but when we returned to the pound, he wasn’t eager to go back to his cage. We had a good cuddle and some treats before he reluctantly settled back in.
Spike is such a sweetheart and deserves a loving home where he can be happy again. He has been waiting for a home for more than 3 years—3 long years behind bars. Please make an appointment to come and meet this sweet dog—he will be waiting for you!
