TUKI
Tuki arrived at Los Barrios pound in October 2024 and was about 6 years old on arrival. He is a Crossbreed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.

Almost a year and a half has passed since Tuki arrived at the pound. Almost 18 long months in a small cage, alone, with only the constant sound of barking dogs around him. He has no companion by his side, no family to comfort him—just a short daily break on the patio and the rare joy of a walk when a volunteer has time.
With time, this confinement has been really, really hard on Tuki. He has become stressed and now spends time spinning in his cage. Being locked up for more than 23.5 hours each day, with almost no contact with people, is extremely difficult for a dog as gentle and affectionate as him.
Despite everything, Tuki still lights up during walks. His entire face transforms—his eyes shine, his tail wags, and for a little while, he gets to be the happy dog he was meant to be. Walks remain far too rare, but they show just how much he loves exploring. Tuki is wonderful to walk—he doesn’t pull on the lead and isn’t bothered by other dogs, cars, motorbikes, or people passing by. He just loves being out and about, taking it all in. On these walks, he has even met some cats and wasn’t bothered at all—what a good boy!
When he is outside, even just for a few minutes, he craves affection. He leans into every cuddle and soaks up every bit of attention he can get. It’s clear he is longing for love and connection.
Tuki was approximately six years old when he arrived, which makes him around seven now. These should be his golden years, but instead, he’s spending them in solitude. This is no life for any dog, least of all one as gentle, loving, and affectionate as Tuki.
We believe Tuki would thrive as the only dog in a calm and caring home. He deserves to spend his days surrounded by love, not cages. Please consider opening your heart and home to him. Tuki is still waiting — could you be the one he’s waiting for?
