Tom – A Loving Boy Waiting for His Second Chance

Tom first arrived at the pound in May 2024. He is a gorgeous small Malinois crossbreed who was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.

A few months later, in August 2024, Tom was lucky enough to be adopted. We truly believed he had found his forever home, so it was heartbreaking when, without any prior notice, he was returned to the pound in January 2025 — through no fault of his own. At that time, Tom was around two years old.

When Tom came back, he returned together with Lina, another dog who had also previously been adopted from the pound. They had been living together in a home and suddenly found themselves back in the pound, sharing a cage and trying to adapt to a completely different life again.

The change was very difficult for both of them. They became stressed and lost weight, and it was clear that returning to the pound after having experienced a home was not easy for them.

In October 2025, Lina was lucky enough to be adopted again — but Tom is still waiting.

Since Lina’s adoption, Tom has shared the patio and cages with different dogs, and he has shown that he enjoys having canine company. At the moment, however, he is once again alone in a small cage, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for him.

Tom spends more than 23 and a half hours every day alone. He rarely gets out for walks due to the lack of volunteers, and this long confinement is taking its toll. He is a young, active dog who needs companionship, attention, and a life outside of a cage.

When Tom does get the chance to go out, he is a real pleasure to walk. He may pull a little at first, but that is simply because he is excited to be outside. Once he settles, he walks beautifully on the lead and is very attentive to the person walking him. He doesn’t react to passing dogs, cats, people, or cars.

Tom is a playful and loving young dog who enjoys attention and spending time with people he knows and trusts. He can sometimes be a little unsure around strangers, so he would do best with a calm and patient adopter who can give him time to feel safe and build confidence.

Tom has already experienced the love and comfort of a home, and he deserves to feel that again. He should not spend his days waiting behind bars.

This lovely boy truly needs and deserves a home of his own. Could you be the person who gives Tom the second chance he has been waiting for? 🐾❤️
