Nagorno – a gentle soul longing for love and freedom
Nagorno arrived at the pound in February 2025, estimated to be around 4 years old at the time. This beautiful boy was found on the streets, most likely abandoned, and brought in.
He arrived in a heartbreaking condition—extremely underweight, just skin and bones, clearly having endured a long period of neglect. Whatever his past looked like, it’s clear he must have gone through significant hardship before arriving here. Despite this, he has remained incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate with people.
Now around five years old, Nagorno is struggling deeply with life in the pound. He spends more than 23 hours a day alone in a very small cage, with very little human interaction. Like all the dogs here, his environment is extremely limited, but for Nagorno it feels especially hard, as he is a dog who truly thrives on contact, attention, and simply being close to people.
Whenever he does get the chance to leave his cage, his whole energy shifts. Walks are something he clearly lives for.
On the lead, Nagorno is an absolute pleasure. He walks like a star—calm, steady, and without pulling. He isn’t bothered by passing other dogs, people, or cars, and takes everything in his stride. He is very attentive and engaged; when you say his name, he immediately turns to you and checks in.
He really enjoys exploring the world around him. He loves going down to the river where he happily jumps in for a swim, plays with sticks, or investigates stones along the water’s edge. He is also very happy to pause during walks and do a bit of nose work—he’s actually super good at it, especially finding treats hidden in the long grass. You can really see his focus and joy when he gets to use his nose.
Nagorno also recently showed how well he can be with other dogs. He spent time in the patio with a female dog and did beautifully, relaxed and sociable, suggesting he could enjoy the company of a calm companion in the right home.
It is heartbreaking to see him spend so much of his life confined, when everything about him shows how much he could blossom in a home environment. Nagorno is a truly special dog who deserves the chance to leave the stress of the pound behind and discover what it feels like to be part of a family—safe, loved, and finally free.
If you have room in your heart for a gentle, loyal companion, Nagorno is waiting for you.
