Doraemon arrived at Los Barrios pound in November 2024 and was about 2 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.
Doraemon - A Shy But Sweet Boy Ready for Love...
Doraemon was initially a bit shy around people, but he has made wonderful progress. He’s now settling in much better, enjoying daily outings with other dogs and becoming more comfortable in his new environment. He is sharing his cage with other dogs too. It’s clear he has a kind heart, and he gets along beautifully with his fellow canine companions.
Lately, Doraemon has started to show a real affection for his caretaker, loving her dearly and seeking out her company. He has also begun accepting cuddles from some of the regular volunteers, a sure sign that he’s on the right road to becoming the loving and trusting companion we know he can be.
This handsome boy has so much potential, and we’re confident that with the right home and a little more time, he will blossom even further. Doraemon is ready for a fresh start—a place where he can continue to grow, trust, and thrive.
If you’re looking for a dog who just needs some patience, love, and understanding, Doraemon might be the perfect fit for you. He is a gorgeous boy and he has so much love to offer!
May 2025: Doraemon has been in foster care since March 2025, after being rescued from a flooded pound. He has made steady progress in a number of areas after three months.
He now walks well on a lead and is comfortable with his collar, lead, and harness. He responds to basic cues such as “sit” and “down,” and is working on “come,” which he follows occasionally.
When out on walks, he is not interested in interacting with other dogs and generally keeps to himself, though he does well around calm female dogs.
Doraemon travels calmly in the car and has shown himself to be a gentle and affectionate companion once he feels safe. He needs a little time to warm up to new people, but once comfortable, he enjoys close contact and absolutely loves to snuggle.
He is basically fully house-trained.
He has a few favorite things that bring him real joy: he loves playing with rope toys and rope balls, and chewing on beef knuckle and femur bones. These high-value items are best enjoyed on his own, as he does better when he’s not sharing them with other dogs — but he is very good about releasing toys and bones to people when asked.
In the evenings, he loves nothing more than to cuddle up under a blanket while his foster reads — a quiet, comforting ritual that shows just how far he’s come.
He is best suited to a calm and quiet home, ideally with adults or older teenagers, where he can continue to build confidence in a peaceful environment. Doraemon appreciates people who respect his space, particularly around his face, and he thrives in a setting that allows him to feel secure and relaxed.
Doraemon is a sweet and sensitive dog who has come a long way in foster care. What he needs now is a stable and loving home to help him continue his journey. If you can offer Doraemon the care and security he deserves, or know someone who can, please reach out. Let’s make sure he never has to return to the pound.
