Ghana – A sweet senior girl looking for a peaceful retirement home

Ghana arrived at the pound in July 2026 and was estimated to be around 10.5 years old when she arrived.

This beautiful senior Crossbreed was handed in by her owner after many years in a home. We were told that, as she had grown older, she had started having accidents indoors and would urinate inside the house. Sadly, instead of trying to find out if there was an underlying medical reason, Ghana was brought to the pound.

After arriving, Ghana was examined by the pound’s veterinarian and was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection, for which she has now received treatment. It is very possible that this infection was the reason for the accidents that ultimately cost her her home.

For a senior dog, losing the only home she has known is incredibly confusing and distressing. The noisy and stressful pound environment is no place for an older dog to spend her days, and Ghana would truly benefit from the comfort and security of a home again.

Despite everything she has been through, Ghana is showing what a wonderful girl she is. She is very sweet and affectionate, walks nicely on the lead, and enjoys being around people. She has also shown that she can share her space well with other dogs, both males and females.

Ghana urgently needs a foster home where she can rest, feel safe, and enjoy some peace and comfort. Even better would be a forever home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by patience, kindness, and love.

After a lifetime in a home, Ghana now finds herself in a cage. We hope someone will see beyond her age, open their heart to this lovely girl, and give her the comfort, security, and love she deserves for the rest of her life.
