Gimli arrived at Los Barrios pound in December 2023 and was about 1 year old on arrival. He is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.

Gimli – A Big, Clumsy Boy Who Needs a Special Home

Gimli is a big, clumsy chap full of curiosity and playful energy. He has been sharing a cage with other dogs, but now all of them have been adopted, leaving Gimli on his own. Before his companions were adopted, Gimli would spend his days trying to get the other dogs to play with him in his endearing, clumsy way. While his playful antics weren’t always understood by his furry friends, he remained eager to engage and explore.

Although Gimli is selective with the people he likes, he is still a friendly dog with those he trusts. He very rarely goes out on walks, but when he does, he LOVES it! He walks well on the lead and doesn’t seem bothered by other dogs passing by—just curious. With cars, he seems a little uncertain, and cats spook him. Loud noises make him jump too, likely due to the lack of exposure and walks.

Gimli needs a special person who can provide him with the guidance and attention he requires, as the pound simply does not have the resources to help him on the right track. His needs demand more time, socialization, and training than the pound can offer, which is why he would thrive in a home with an experienced, responsible owner.

He will need a home without children and an owner who can understand and manage his quirks. If you have the experience and patience to help Gimli reach his full potential, he could be the perfect addition to your family.
