Nessi arrived at Los Barrios pound in October 2025 and was about 4 years old on arrival. She is a gorgeous Malinois that was found presumably abandoned on the streets and taken to the pound.

Nessi – A Beautiful Malinois Looking for Stability..
Nessi was about four years old when she arrived at the Pound in October. She is a striking Malinois with a sensitive nature, and she finds life in a tiny cage on her own for more than 23 hours a day very challenging. This environment is especially difficult for a breed that needs activity, stimulation and close contact with people.

During her daily break in the patio she goes out with a male dog. In the past she has found it hard to fully relax in this setting, often spending much of her time moving around rather than settling. However, she has begun to show small improvements, and when a volunteer manages to get her attention, she gladly accepts a cuddle and shows her gentle and affectionate side. Like many Malinois, she enjoys chasing a tennis ball and shows clear signs of the intelligent, active dog she truly is.

Nessi loves going out for walks. She is good on the lead most of the time, although she may pull occasionally, which is understandable as she rarely gets the opportunity to go on walks. In the rural area surrounding the pound, she does not seem bothered by passing cars, people or other dogs. She also happily stops for a cuddle and to receive some treats along the way. We have seen her with a child and she did very well.

January: Nessi was really struggling at the pound and had begun losing weight, so she went into foster care three days ago. We have already received this encouraging update from her foster family:
“Her foster tells us that Nessi is doing very well meeting new people - including children and takes everything in her stride. She has already visited the groomers without any issues, joined outings to a café, and travels calmly in the van. On top of all this, she is fully house trained.
Nessi is a beautiful dog who loves attention and is full of affection. Anyone who gives her even a small amount of love will receive it back many times over.
As a Malinois, her communication is clear and honest — you simply need to learn how to read “Mali”.“


Nessi needs a family that can offer her both mental and physical stimulation every day. She will benefit from structured activity, regular walks, training and exercises that engage her mind. With the right guidance and environment, she will have the chance to flourish. Sadly, we have many Malinois at the moment, and Nessi deserves her opportunity to find safety, stability and a loving home where she can thrive.
