DOG OF THE MONTHS
As our Dog of the Month, his adoption fee is fully covered throughout October.
Patrón arrived at the pound in February 2026 and was around six years old on arrival. According to the information we received, he may be a Malinois who was previously trained for protection or working activities such as detection work. We were also told that he has lived around children and can get along with female dogs and some males. He can be a little unsure if unfamiliar adults approach him too directly, so gentle and respectful introductions are best.
Patrón has settled in well at the pound and currently shares his space with a female dog. During the daily break from the cage, when the dogs can go out onto the patio, Patrón loves to play with a tennis ball. He happily brings it back so you can throw it again, clearly enjoying the game.
Patrón also enjoys going out for walks. On his first walk, he seemed to find comfort staying close to his canine friend, but as the walk continued he relaxed more and did very well. He didn’t seem bothered by passing dogs or even a cat along the way.
When the walk led to the river, Patrón was delighted to take a quick dip in the water. Afterwards, he happily rolled in the long grass, clearly enjoying the moment. He is also very happy to stop for a short break, enjoy a few treats, and share a gentle cuddle.
Patrón is a truly noble dog with the most incredible eyes. When he looks at you, it almost feels as if he is looking straight into your soul. This wonderful boy really deserves a loving home where he can be cherished and enjoy the life he deserves. 💛
July 2026 update:
Patrón was really struggling at the pound. Living in a small cage for more than 23 and a half hours a day, surrounded by the noise and stress of many other dogs, was very difficult for him, and we were becoming increasingly worried about him.
In June, we were very lucky to be able to move Patrón to a private paid residence, where he now has a much calmer environment with fewer dogs, less noise, and more daily interaction with people.
The change has been wonderful for him, and Patrón is doing very well. The volunteer who transported him there told us that he travelled beautifully in the car — calm and relaxed during the journey.
At the residence, Patrón has been integrated with another female dog, and they have been getting along very well together. She has now found her forever home and will soon be leaving, but we hope that Patrón will be the next one to find a responsible and loving family of his own. 💛
