Ricotta arrived at Los Barrios pound in Febuary 2025 and was about 6 months old on arrival. She is a gorgeous Crossbreed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.

Ricotta – A Sweet Young Girl Looking for a Home.
Ricotta, a beautiful six-month-old girl who has just arrived at the pound. Despite the overwhelming new environment, she has already shown what a wonderful and adaptable dog she is. She has been successfully integrated with other dogs and is now sharing a kennel with three others without any issues.
Ricotta is a friendly young dog who deserves more than to grow up in the pound. We hope she finds a loving home soon, where she can blossom into the amazing companion we know she will be. Could you be the one to give her that chance?

Update March 2025
Ricotta – Thriving in Foster Care!
Ricotta and Firulais went into foster care together a couple of weeks ago after the pound was at risk of flooding. They are proving to be wonderful dogs. They have had no accidents during the day, as they have constant access to the outdoors. Overnight, there have been a couple of minor accidents, but they are trying their best and learning quickly. Both are smart and picking up new things fast!

When walked together, they can be strong and pull at first, but with separate training, they are improving significantly. Ricotta settles into her walk more quickly, while Firulais is more curious and loves to explore everything. Neither barks at night or joins in when the other dogs bark, showing they are calm and well-mannered.

Ricotta is an absolute sweetheart. After playtime or a walk, she’s happy to relax in the office or snuggle on the sofa. She is great with farm animals, including horses, cows, and goats, though she does bark if the horses start running around. Ricotta would do well in either an active or relaxed home, but probably not with very young children, as she can be a bit bouncy. Her favorite games include playing with a ball and tug-of-war. She doesn’t bite or chew things she shouldn’t, but she absolutely loves giving kisses!

Both Ricotta and Firulais are extremely well-behaved while traveling in the car, making them great companions for adventures! These two are fun, smart, and affectionate dogs who are making great progress in foster care. They are looking for loving homes that can continue their training and provide plenty of love and playtime!

After 3 weeks in foster, Barbara is returning to the pound... Once again behind bars...

May 2025:
Firulais & Ricotta – Town Explorers Looking for a Home

Today was a special day for Firulais and Ricotta! These two lovely dogs were lucky enough to be chosen for an adventure outside the pound, and they truly made the most of it.

Both were calm and relaxed in the car, and once they arrived in the local town, they jumped out, ready to explore. They strolled confidently through the park and the streets, completely unfazed by passing people, children, traffic, or even off-leash dogs who came running up to them. Nothing seemed to bother them.

Ricotta was especially curious about children playing with balls—she looked like she would have loved to join in the fun! Both dogs enjoyed a little break in the shade with treats and cuddles, and behaved as though they’d done this a hundred times before.

It was hard bringing them back to the pound—they clearly wanted to keep exploring.

Both Firulais and Ricotta were recently in foster care due to flooding at the pound, and their foster carer confirmed what we saw today: they are wonderful in a home environment too.

We honestly don’t understand why these two incredible dogs are still waiting.
