Sara arrived at the pound in September 2026, at around five years old, in a heartbreaking condition.

We were told that Sara had a habit of escaping, which is how she eventually found her way to the pound. But when she arrived, it was clear that she had much more serious problems than simply being a dog who liked to get away.

Her skin was extremely dry and sore, and she was clearly in pain. Her ears, nose and the delicate skin around her eyes were bleeding. Seeing her in such a condition was incredibly difficult. You cannot help but wonder how a sweet dog can be allowed to reach a point where she is suffering so much and desperately needs medical care.

Sara has now been tested positive for Leishmania, and she has started treatment. We are hoping with all our hearts that, with the right medication, care and plenty of time, her body will begin to heal and she will soon feel much more comfortable.

For now, Sara needs patience, kindness and the medical treatment she has gone without for far too long. Behind her tired and painful appearance is a five-year-old girl who deserves to feel safe, cared for and loved.

Poor Sara. We truly hope that this is the beginning of a much better chapter in her life.
