Vaiana – A sweet Podenco waiting for her second chance

Vaiana arrived at the pound in July 2026 and was estimated to be around 4½ years old on arrival.

She was found running desperately behind cars on a road near the pound in Los Barrios. She appeared to be trying to follow a vehicle, possibly belonging to the person who had left her there. She was disoriented, very thirsty, and completely exposed to the dangers of the traffic, until some people managed to get her to safety, give her water and food, and take her to the Guardia Civil, where they stayed with her until the collection service arrived.

As a Podenco found in the middle of summer, it is possible that Vaiana is another victim of abandonment, although we cannot know with certainty what happened in her past.

Despite everything she has been through, Vaiana is showing what a wonderful girl she is. She is a beautiful Podenco who is sweet and affectionate, although she can be a little timid when meeting new people. With a little time and patience, her gentle and loving personality begins to shine through.

Vaiana walks very well on the lead and has shown that she can live well with other dogs, both males and females. She is a calm and friendly girl who deserves the chance to leave the pound behind and experience the safety and affection of a real home.

Vaiana is looking for a responsible and loving family where she will be treated as a valued member of the family and receive the care, patience, security, and love she deserves. ❤️
